First Commerce Credit Union is partnering with Secure Records Solutions to help Thomasville residents clean out their paper clutter and dispose of sensitive documents during a free Community Appreciation Shred Day on Thursday, May 23, 2019. The Shred Day is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the First Commerce financial center located at 11395 U.S. Hwy 319 North, across the street from Walmart. After dropping off items to be shredded, residents are invited to grab a grilled hot dog, chips and a drink to go -- courtesy of First Commerce while supplies last. “We are proud to be part of the Thomasville community,” said Brett Smith, Financial Services Officer. “The Community Shred Day is our way to thank residents and businesses for the trust they have placed in us to be their financial partner, and to save them time and money.” Besides Shred Day, May 23rd is also National Lucky Penny Day. And when it comes to enhancing your financial well-being, every penny counts. In celebration, First Commerce will be offering chances to win “Lucky Penny Day” prizes for anyone who stops by the Shred Day event. “Shred Day is a great way for residents to get organized, recycle unwanted paper from their homes and offices and just maybe find a lucky penny,” said Christopher Jones, Consulting Team Leader for Secure Records Solutions. “We’re excited about our partnership with First Commerce Credit Union to offer secure options for disposing sensitive, confidential documents with our onsite shred truck at no cost to the community.” Paper-based documents will be accepted for free up to 3 boxes or bags per person. There is no need to remove staples, paper clips or file folders. Residents will also have the option to pay a fee on site for secure destruction of hard drives and recycling of electronics. The fee structure for disposal of electronics can be found at http://www.firstcommercecu.org/shred-day For additional information, or questions regarding accepted items, please contact Kris McCaffrey, Sr. Public Relations Specialist with First Commerce Credit Union at (850) 410-3553 or Secure Records Solutions at (229) 226-0414 or visit https://www.firstcommercecu.org/.
